Davey Morgan

Davey credits his unique gift for illustration to God, a passion first sparked in childhood as he filled sketchbooks with characters like Sonic and Mario. That early creative spark was further nurtured by music. As a guitarist and mandolin player, Davey explored songwriting and devotional writing, layering his artistic voice with rhythm and spiritual depth. He earned a B.A. in Visual Art from Erskine College in 2007, grounding his creativity in a strong artistic foundation.

Since then, Davey’s illustration career has flourished. His work has spanned children’s books, a comic book, and recognition at the 2016 New York Book Festival. Primarily working digitally with a Wacom tablet and Adobe Illustrator, his signature style blends whimsy with clarity and emotion. But Davey’s creative range is vast, he’s also skilled in 3D modeling and printing, crocheting, graphite, inking, jewelry making, knitting, acrylic painting, photography, printmaking, pyrography, watercolor, and woodworking. These tactile arts not only enrich his visual storytelling but make each project feel more hand-crafted and heartfelt.

In 2018, Davey deepened his writing through formal classes, marking a turning point in his narrative craft. That journey led to the publication of Cayo and Patch: The Piso Crystal in 2021, his first children’s comic book. Since then, he has continued to develop an expansive portfolio of stories, each with its own distinct voice, heartfelt humor, and visual vibrancy. His integration of art and writing allows his ideas to bloom fully, inviting young readers into vivid, emotionally rich adventures.

Davey’s mission is to create imaginative stories that nurture kindness, courage, faith, and connection. His work invites children and families into playful, hopeful adventures where emotional truth and biblical wisdom are gently woven through wonder-filled worlds. Whether it’s a comic about space dinosaurs or a quiet fable of forgiveness, Davey’s stories resonate with timeless themes in approachable, delightful forms.

His influences are as diverse as his talents, comic books, anime, animated films, Welsh culture, travel, children’s literature, music videos, and the symbolism-rich narratives of the Bible. He weaves those inspirations into every book, every sketch, and every story told.

Davey lives in Greenville, South Carolina, with his wife Marissa, their two sons Ansel and Harrison, and their cats, Frankie, Pancake, and Honey, each of whom inspires new characters, jokes, and creative chaos.

Davey was the only person that I knew I’d go to when I started my business. An apt businessman himself, with THE eye for aesthetics, Davey knew exactly what The Blessed Beard needed to stand out. We looked through countless competitors to parse out what I liked most. He helped me write the story of my business with a logo that speaks volumes! - David P.

Davey is an exceptional artist. His talent in creating illustrations is matched by his imaginative designs. This spring, I asked Davey to create a couple of coloring pages for our college's alumni day. Davey surpassed all expectations. He created about 8 unique coloring pages for our event, kids and parents alike LOVED them as he had told the story of our beloved school in cartoon, kid friendly form! For example, he had one page with our school's signature building, with two towers, being climbed by King-Kong-like squirrels (as squirrels overrun the campus). He also designed a kid-friendly mascot and had a few pages of that story that were fun to color. Our school's mascot is a vague silhouette of a pilot in a WWII biplane, not anything cute. But Davey made the pilot a dog in standard fighter pilot gear. These are just a few examples of Davey's creativity! - Elizabeth C.

Very passionate, very creative, great communicator, Davey listens to you and makes sure you have the right design and constantly in contact, made me an amazing logo in just a few days, highly recommend him for your design needs. - John J.

I used Davey to make a logo for my new company. I had a few different images I wanted to combine and make my own. He made multiple proofs, all right in-line with my vision. After picking one, he worked closely with me to produce a professional, polished final version. Thanks for the speedy and excellent service! - Tyler E.

Davey is so easy to work with. He’s helped me with everything from business cards to album art photography and layout. When I started my own business and needed a banner I knew exactly who to go to. Davey listened to my ideas and helped me create the perfect eye catching banner for Music Adventure. Thanks Davey! You rock! - Lynne M.
